Endangered Escape!

Information

Status

The Lemur Leaf Frog (Agalychnis lemur) is a Critically Endangered amphibian found in the rain forests of Central America. The largest known breeding population is in Costa Rica.

Physical Attributes

The Lemur Leaf Frog is a relatively small frog, only growing to a length of about 1-2 inches. It typically has a bright green back with black speckles, a yellow underbelly, and yellow toes. The toes and legs are both relatively long, without any form of webbing. Unlike some other brightly colored frogs, it does not have any sort of toxic secretion to defend itself.

Social Interactions

Male frogs are very territorial. They emit a short, rapid “ticking” sound to warn other nearby males. When a male is challenged by another frog or encounters an unreceptive female, they will often clasp the intruder and attempt to push them off of their perch.

Activity

The frog is nocturnal and typically is found hanging on the underside of a leaf, near the water, in daylight. After night falls, the Lemur Leaf Frog will change its color to a dark brown in order to camouflage. This gives the frog an advantage when hunting its food, which includes insects and other small invertebrates.

Game Help

Overview

This is an escape room game for 1 or more players. As a team, you will solve a series of puzzles to unlock the solution to a mystery. Try to finish as quickly as possible for a high score!

Setup

Take the 18-card deck and keep it face down. Never turn over any card until specifically instructed.

How To Play

When the app instructs you to take a card, find it in the deck and turn it face-up so that everyone can read it. Cards may contain puzzles to solve right away, information you will need for a future puzzle, or both.

Puzzles are indicated by a magnifying glass icon. Every time you see this icon on a card, you will need to type an answer into the app and click the “Check Answer” button. The app will tell you whether you are correct, and what to do next. Sometimes there will be further instructions after you dismiss the first screen.

Parts of more than one puzzle may be on the same card.

Hints And Information

If you get stuck, you can ask the app for hints. They are organized by card number.

Some puzzles rely on outside facts you might not have memorized. These are available in the app and will not affect your score if you look at them.
